Pints for Pitbulls

A couple weeks ago, in the rain, about 150 of OCPBR's closest friends traveled to The Factory in Long Beach to drink, bid on silent auction items, and meet other dog rescue enthusiasts. It's never a bad night when you get to attend a fundraiser and take photos of happy people with their dogs.

It's safe to say we pretty much took over the entire restaurant, plus the patio, and there was literally a line out the door most the night!
Volunteers and guests scoping out the silent auction goods which included MY photo shoot!

Julianna knows how to get a bar crowd listening.
They were able to raise over $2500 including an echocardiogram from VCA All Care FV for one of their adorable dogs up for adoption, Stevie.
Name your price pints! The Spring Ale was GONE in 27 minutes!

Here are some goodies that were up for auction:

Raffle prizes galore! All of these companies understand the true meaning of giving, and the volunteers did a great job with the swag bags.
And here is one happy winner! :)
Most importantly, I was very happy to find that some dogs were able to come out despite the weather! They of course garnered plenty of attention and crowds but I was able to sneak a few shots in:
Aspen

This loving dog was just 2 weeks out of surgery after losing her leg and was soaking up ALL the attention!

Last but not least, a major thank you to all who bid on my photo shoot, Julianna for welcoming me into the event, and congratulations to Julie and her pack for winning the auction! Stay tuned for the photos of that adventure coming soon.

Rescue Me

Many of you know that Ted and I adopted a beautiful floppy-eared dog last year. It was as if the universe pointed me to sign on facebook, and join OCPBR's facebook page just in time to see Jayda, a girl that was in danger of euthanasia that same week. Jayda was special to many in the rescue community, but without Jennifer Aldridge, she wouldn't have seen another day.

We met the pair by chance but will be connected for life as we train Jayda, fund-raise, and educate on the importance of rescuing a dog in need and being responsible for their well-being. It's the Pits helped save our future dog, and another worthy organization is having a fundraiser tonight where I am donating a photo session to another pack. Come join me at Pints for Pitbulls in the LBC and buy a raffle ticket to win my session or any of the other fantastic items they are giving away every half hour.
Pitbull awareness is essential to the life of this breed, and the San Diego Meet-up Group has some great events all year round, including trips to the local beaches, pitbull kissing booths, and pack hikes. I was fortunate to be included in the National Pitbull Awareness Day last year, here are some pics of my favorite dogs:

Saving a life feels good, and if you don't have room in your home, donations are ALWAYS welcome. ;)

My Girls Get Around

I take honor in helping my dawgs see the world (well, California, but to them it's the world outside our living room). They have climbed more peaks than most of my friends, and carry their own water and treats in their backpacks. We even placed a sticker in their honor at the top of Mt. Whitney last year- they did all the training for it along with us, so they deserved the glory!
Some of their favorite trails are:
Vulture Crags
Holy Jim
Grotto Trail to Canyon View Trail

We are incredibly lucky to have friends with a TON of land up in Porterville, so we didn't pass up the opportunity to let the girls loose at Susan and Jon's duck pond. There's a pier to run and jump off of, an island to explore on, and plenty of water for dog-paddling, but Layla and Jayda seemed to just want to watch the locals swim.
One of their favorite places to be is the HB Dog Beach, and especially love it during the weekdays when there aren't as many distractions- Layla is famous for running home with another pack and forgetting to come back. ;)
She sure loves sticks. Forget any expensive toys, just let her find a piece of wood.
Jayda, on the other hand, would rather be layin on a towel or climbing rocks. It's so great to see their personalities come out. I also take a pack of dogs to the beach once a month, contact me for details!
No matter the adventure, the girls are always tuckered out when we come home. We had to buy more lounge furniture to accommodate them but we wouldn't have it any other way.
That is their "coffee tawk" pose if you couldn't tell.
Thanks for viewing!

Lovin the new blog!!

Before we get into some real photo sessions, let's take time to smell the roses of a brand new blog...

Love is in the air around here and my pit-bull Valentines have extra cute faces on tonight.
Here's a late night just for fun photo shoot I did with friends to spread the L-O-V-E.

Cheers to Valentines Day, a day for Puppy Love. <3
